Questions parents ask

Is the test safe?

Yes. The screening is gentle and non-invasive: no needles, no sedation, no radiation. A soft, small probe sits at the entrance of your baby’s ear and plays quiet sounds while a sensor listens for the ear’s natural response. It’s the same type of screening used in hospitals worldwide.

How long does it take?

About 3 minutes per ear, though it can take a little longer if your baby is restless. The whole visit, including explaining the results, usually takes under 30 minutes.

When should my baby be tested?

Ideally within the first month. Experts recommend screening by 1 month, a full hearing check by 3 months if needed, and support in place by 6 months. If your baby is older, it’s still worth testing, as it’s never too late to check.
